Castro is a coastal area of Salento located on the Adriatic side of Apulia. It is 15 Km from Otranto, 45 from Lecce, 50 from Gallipoli and 25 from Leuca. Castro is in the middle of a wonderful and unique coastal arch that goes from Otranto to S. Maria di Leuca. There are about 2,500 local inhabitants. However, during the summer, tourists are attracted to the small town and the population soars.

The blue of the sea and the green vegetation combine to give a colourful environment. From the characteristic Mediaeval village, full of history, to the harbour with nearby small grottos excavated into the rock which fishermen use as storehouses, to its famous grottos, to its cliffs, to its surroundings rich in fauna and flora, Castro is a lovely place to enjoy a holiday.
