Eastern Tuscany has an impressive beauty: From the forests of Mugello and Casentino, to the rocks of La Verna. This part of Tuscany was home to the Renaissance painter Piero della Francesca, whose cycle of crucifixion frescos in the gothic church of San Francesco, in Arezzo, are well worth seeing.
