Lierna is a lovely small lakeside village on the eastern shore of Lake Como, only 5 km from the well known Varenna. There is one of the loveliest pebble beaches on Lake Como situated at Lierna, and may visitors consider this one of the most beautiful and purest parts of Lake Como.

The location is ideal even for winter sports (the fashionable and exclusive St. Moritz being situated within a 1 hour drive) and you can easily travel to Milan by train, where you can do your shopping without being bothered about traffic and car parking. In Lierna there is a small and easy to reach train station. The public boat transport can quickly take you to Bellagio right on the other side of the lake.

Nearby Varenna is on the eastern side of Lake Como, roughly north east and across the water from Bellagio in the centre of the lake. This small fishing village has a population of about 800 living in quaint village surroundings. The harbour is a stop-off point for car and passenger ferries and Varenna also has a station. The lakeside promenade (passarella) has wonderful views of the old fishing village and views of the opposite shore. A walk along the Passerella at sunset can be unforgettable.
