The bridge over the Impero dates back to the late Middle Ages. The church of Sarola goes back to the 16th century, whereas the church at Olivastri dates from the following century. The agriculture of the area is dominated by olive trees, fruit and vegetable fields.

The region produces some very good wines and there are several olive oil producers. The small towns around Chiusavecchia have retained their original character. During the summer, festivals take place in the various villages, where the inhabitants gather in the squares for the communal celebrations.
