Olbia Area Information

Olbia is located on the north east coast of Sardinia and is the main port opposite mainland Italy. It is an historic town but also modern and lively. It was actually known as 'the Happy Town' by the Greeks. It is now world renowned because of its location on the Cosat Smeralda; the playground of the rich and famous.

If you want to rent a Sardinia Villa or stay in a Sardinia Apartment in this area of north east Sardinia then Olbia is a good location to choose. The town stands on a wide natural gulf whose edges are marked by the islands of Tavolara and Molara. Usefully the Costa Smeralda airport lies in this area so you can easily arrive by either boat of plane.

Olbia is a city of great historical and cultural interest. There are many archaeological sites of importance such as the Riu Mulinu nuraghe (Cabu Abbas), the Tomb of the Giants of Su Monte de S'Abe and there is also the National Archaeological museum, which was designed by the architect Vanni Macciocco. The museum is located on the 'isolotto di Peddone', along the passenger street leading to the embarkation point at the Isola Bianca and the historical centre.

For an enjoyable stay on the island of Sardinia, and a balance between lovely relaxation on sandy beaches coupled with historic places to visit, we recommend that you stay in a Sardinia Villa or rent a Sardinia Apartment for your ideal holiday.
