Santa Teresa Gallura is a town of about 5,000 people on the northern tip of Sardinia and boasts of some of the most beautiful Sardinian beaches. This is a very good location to enjoy a relaxing holiday in a Sardnia villa near the beach. There are many wonderful creeks and coves surrounding the beaches and it is enjoyable for exploring.
Santa Teresa Di Gallura is next to the Strait of Bonifacio and belongs to the province of Olbia-Tempio. In fact the southern coast of Corsica can be seen from the beach. The normal population expands drammatically to 10,000 - 15,000 during the summer period. The main town square has various tourist shops and restaurants but many of these close in the off-season.
The main town is immediatley to the north and called Rena Bianca. This tourist town could be initially mistaken as new but it dates back to the early nineteenth century. In contrast the first settlement in this area dates back to the nuragic period (4000 BC). Later, under Roman rule, two settlements existed in the area: Longonis and Tibula. The first one which stood on the left side of the present harbour, was a fishermen village whereas the second village Tibula, was at the final stretch of the consular road.
Santa Teresa di Gallura is a good holiday destination for northern Sardinia and we can recommend that you rent a Sardinia Holiday Villa or Apartment in this area.
