Stintino is a small Sardinian coastal town on the very north western peninsula of Sardinia. Today it is predominantly a holiday resort where you can rent lovely Sardinia villas or alterntively stay in a self catering Sardinia apartment for a lovely seaside vacation, The origins of Sthe town date back to 1885 and a settlement of only 45 families living off of fishing. The village is developed inside two inlets where small harbours are situated. They are side by side, the old port called Minori(small) and a new port called Mannu(big).
When the town was founded the State requisitioned the island of Asinara for use as a prison. The resident fishing families were then relocated to the current site which is conveniently situated between the two natural inlets. The town is essentially a grid of largely residential streets and, unusually, there is no cetral Piazza.
Due tot he nature of the town the local restaurants in Stintino are well known for their seafood dishes. The later development as a holiday location means that many events and entertainment have been organised for tourists such as the annual festival boat race at the end of August called "Regata della vela latina". We recommend the most famous beach called "La Pelosa" but there are others, equally as attractive including Saline, Puzzona and Ezzi Mannu. Pelosa beach is creferred to as one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia. So, if you are looking for a beach holiday then we recommend booking your Sardinia Villa holiday or renting your sardinia Apartment with Authentic Italy now.
