Castellammare Area Information

Castellamare del Golfo is a great location to choose a Sicily Villa for your holidays by the coast or to rent a Sicily Apartment within the boundaries of the town. The town is located in the north west of the island of Sicily on the ocats in a protected area by the gulf that extends from Cape San Vito to Cape Rama. During the summer months the harbour comes to life at night and the area becomes a pedestrian zone. Here there are bars, pubs and restaurants where you can sit on a terrace and enjoy al fresco dining or a drink overlooking the harbour.

The original town evolved around the large Castle on a promontory stretching toward the sea; it is surrounded by the sea on three sides and connected to the land by a drawbridge. In the early morning you can see fishermen going out to sea in their typical blue and white fishing boats, returnign later with their fresh catches for the local restaurants and market.

The corso is a nice area for shopping and from the town square you have acces to the smallest of the two sandy beaches. The other, much larger beach, is located just outside of Castellammare del Golfo. During the summer they erect lido's where you can hire sun loungers, deck chairs and umbrellas on the beach. There are also several established beach facilities, bars, and restaurants. Just outside the town we recommend a trip to the famous nature reserve 'Lo Zingaro', and the nearby town of Scopello. In any of this area it is a good decision to rent a Sicily holiday villa or stay in a Sicily apartment for that self catering vacation.
