Sciacca is situated on the south west coast of the island of Sicily, between Mount Kronio and the Mediterranean sea. This is a thriving town with centuries of artistic tradition and an enjoyable place to rent a Sicily holiday apartment in the town. We also recommend renting a Sicily Villa in the surrounding Sicilian vegetation of the countryside and close to the sea and beaches.
Sicily and this area are well known for the production of Sicilian ceramics in various shapes, sizes, colurs and patterns; often with yellows and blues. There are some glorious beaches along this coast and some very good swimming beaches. You can combine a beach holiday with historic excursions; a perfect combination.
Sciacca is situated between the mouths of rivers and Platani Belice, in a natural scene of great beauty. It forms a type of natural amphitheater by the sea, opposite the island of Pantelleria. It is also located midway between the ruins of Selinunte, Eraclea Minoa, and Agrigento, which are all places worth visiting to enjoy the history of great empires.
Sciacca is probably the oldest seaside resort in Sicily and is therefore a greta holiday destination to rent a Sicily Villa alomng the coast and by a beach. If you like walking through the old streets and exploring then staying in a Sicily holiday apartment may be more appropriate.
Also worth exploring are the natural Steam Vents of San Calogero, 7 Km away from the town. There are also caves here that have been named after a monk who, arriving in the spot in the sixth century BC, realized that the vapors could treat several diseases, and provided the area with stone benches for sick people. The largest cave is la Grotta del Santo (the saint's cave), where St. Calogero probably lived, l'Antro di Dedalo (Daedalus's cave) and la Grotta degli Animali (The Animals' cave).
