Syracuse Area Information

There is a lovely beach in the seaside resort of Fontane Bianche on the south side of Syracusa, on the way to Avola. This small town has a range of lovely Sicily villas and apartments fro holiday rent. In fact there are two beaches; the main large beach which is about 1 km long and a smaller beach by the very good restaurant 'La Spiaggetta' which has large glass windows with a view of the bay.

The main sandy beach of Fontance Bianche is a lovely golden sand which slopes gently far out into the warm, calm sea. The bay is protected on both sides by picturesque 'arms' reaching out into the sea. There are good facilities in season in this small seaside town with beach umbrellas and sun loungers at the Lido di Fontane Bianche, which also serves meals, great cappuccinos and the usual gelati. There is also a public section to the beach and a nearby Italian Vende Club with some amusing antics when the holiday-makers do their water aerobics !!

All in all this is a lovely Sicilian seaside resort, great for a beach holiday with or without shildren. The beach is easily accessible from Syracuse, Avola, Floridia and the small towns of the area.
