Arezzo Area Information

Arezzo on the very eastern border of Tuscany, close to Umbria, is the capital of the province of the same name. With a population of over ninety thousand people this town has been famous throughout history due to its vases. It is also the birthplace of the renowned patron of the arts, Maecenas. However, Arezzo's most famour citizen was Piero della Francesca whose magnificent frescoes adorn the San Francesco church.

The magnificent gothic San Francesco church overlooks the Piazza of the same name. There is also the Romanesque church of Santa Maria. In fact the centre still preserves many Medieval strets and buildings creating a charm of a time gone by.
