Castelfiorentino Area Information
Castelfiorentino is a lovely hill town on the route from northern Tuscany down to Siena, This area has wonderful countrsyide and is a good place to rent a Tusacny villa for your holidays around Castelfiorentino or Certaldo. Alternatively you can rent a Tuscany apartments and visiting the surrounding towns of San Gimignano, Volterra and San Miniato.
Central to Castelfiorentino is the lareg square called Piazza Gramsci, near the railway station and with a range of bars, cafes and restaurants. The olde upper town can be reached via a stairway next to the Teatro del Popolo, and this goes up to the Via dei Tilli where you find Biblioteca Communale, home to the Gozzoli frescoes.
In the lower town you can find teh Baroque church of Santa Verdiana which has a museum. However, in terms of stayng and enjoying the surrounding countryside we recommend renting a Tuscany holiday apartment in one of the rurual villas or, indeed, renting a complete Tuscany villa with a pool for your vacation, peace and quiet, and relaxation. This would form a central point to visiting the lovely Tuscany Mediaeval towns.
