Livorno Area Information

Livorno is the largest port on the Tuscany coast and the second largest port in Italy, after Genoa on the Ligurian coast. Livorono is also Tuscany's third largest city after Florence and Prato. The area is a good location for renting a Tuscany Villa or Tuscany holiday apartment so that you can tour around the many beautiful polaces in northern Tuscany and along the Tuscan coastline.

From a tourist point of view there is not so much to se in the city itself other than a working port. However the Porto Mediceo is the town's most picturesque area which follows the pentagon shaped and canal enclosed plan of the Medici.

Outside of Livorno there is much more to see which is why we would recommend staying in a Tuscany Holdia Villa or an apartment in the surrounding countryside or a Tuscany apartment in one of the smaller coastal towns. The hillside villas outside of Livorono were once home to famous people like Byron, Shelley and Napoleon III.

Back in the sity the Fortezza Nuovo is worth a visit as this moated area is where Livorno's people turn out for their sunday promenade.
