Montepulciano Apartments & Villas (Tuscany)

The town of Montepulciano is constructed along a geological ridge running down from its highest point. It is of course famous throughout the world for the wine of the same name from this area of the beautiful Tuscany.

Montepulciano is a beautiful historic town which gives the impression of living in Mediaeval times in the older parts and is therefore an ideal location to rent a nholiday apartment or villa in Tuscany. There is a very long main street (about 12 km !) leading from the Porta al Prato through a 60 m drop to the Piazza Grande. The houses are organised around this main street in a series of perpendicular short, narrow lanes which are often extremely steep and not for the faint hearted !

The most important Tuscan buildings are nearly all on the main street, presenting a long procession of facades which could be considered an "exhibition" of historic designs, of which the 16th century was the most influential.
